Teaneck (/ˈtiːnɛk/) is a township in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States, and a bedroom community in the New York metropolitan area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township’s population was 39,776, reflecting an increase of 516 (+1.3%) from the 39,260 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,435 (+3.8%) from the 37,825 counted in the 1990 Census. As of 2010, it was the second-most populous among the 70 municipalities in Bergen County, behind Hackensack, which had a population of 43,010.
Teaneck was created on February 19, 1895, by an act of the New Jersey Legislature from portions of Englewood Township and Ridgefield Township, both of which are now defunct (despite existing municipalities with similar names), along with portions of Bogota and Leonia. Independence followed the result of a referendum held on January 14, 1895, in which voters favored incorporation by a 46–7 margin. To address the concerns of Englewood Township’s leaders, the new municipality was formed as a township, rather than succumbing to the borough craze sweeping across Bergen County at the time. On May 3, 1921, and again on June 1, 1926, portions of what had been Teaneck were transferred to Overpeck Township.
If you’re building a new landscape design, you’ll probably want to incorporate a few different types of pavers in your space. These components will pull your landscape design together and ensure that the most important surfaces of your yard are safe and stylish. Fortunately, there are many different types of pavers to choose from, and it’s important to choose the right one for your space. Below are 10 of the most common types of pavers.
Using a protective sealer on pavers makes their maintenance easier, and it protects them from the elements. Although sealers aren’t permanent, you may want to reapply them occasionally, depending on how much wear and tear they’re getting from the environment. In addition, many types of protective sealers are available in various finishes, including invisible and wet-look film-forming sealants. Once you’ve finished cleaning your pavers, you can seal them to prevent them from losing their color.
The most common paver shape is a rectangle. These come in varying sizes, ranging from small rectangular shapes that resemble cobblestones from Europe to large slabs that cover a large area. Depending on the size of your space, pavers can range anywhere from twelve inches by twelve inches to two feet by three feet. Modern, more contemporary shapes include trapezoids and hexagons. Solid colors are popular, but blended color varieties are still the most common.
While you can purchase pavers at any landscape supply store, it’s best to hire a professional landscaper to install them. You’ll want to choose someone who has experience in this field, and you can get a few quotes from landscapers in your area. Be sure to ask for references, read reviews, and check the landscaper’s license. If you are unsure about paver installation, consider watching a tutorial video first.
Another type of paver is concrete. These can be made from natural stone, clay brick, and other materials. Concrete pavers are inexpensive and versatile. Because they come in various sizes, patterns, and colors, they are a great choice for a home’s exterior. Plus, since the color of these stones is embedded in them, they don’t fade or discolor under high traffic. Additionally, pavers can be made from a variety of different stone types, including granite, slate, travertine, and sandstone.
Aside from their durability and attractive appearance, pavers also improve resale value of your home. While concrete is a reliable choice for driveways and patios, pavers are the most durable and affordable material. They’re also easier to replace, allowing you to add to your home’s curb appeal and resale value. You’ll also benefit from a long-term return on your investment if you install them yourself.
If you’re looking for an elegant, regal look for your home, you should consider using marble pavers. Their elegant aura, regal polish, and natural tones and patterns make them a beautiful choice for both residential and commercial properties. And since they’re very durable, they’ll last a long time. Lastly, marble pavers are extremely durable and add value to your home. They’re also excellent for high-traffic areas.
While pavers don’t need much maintenance, there are some nuances that you need to know about them. They require minimal care but may require attention if you’re installing them on a sloping surface or on a sloped area. You can hire a professional paver installation service to clean and seal the stones, which can be quite affordable. The price range for pavers is usually between $1.25 and $1.85 per square foot.
Regular sweeping will prevent new weeds from establishing and seedlings from spreading. You can also use a pressure washer to eliminate large weeds. This process removes existing materials in the joints and rooting zones. It doesn’t disturb the bedding layer. Using a pressure washer will remove existing materials and weeds without disturbing the paver’s original pattern. However, you should wait until the sand hardens before using it on your pavers.
The main difference between concrete and pavers lies in their durability. Concrete slabs are notoriously difficult to maintain and replace, and pavers are much easier to work with. Unlike concrete, pavers can be replaced individually, allowing you to repair a broken paver without having to replace the rest of the floor. Pavers are four times stronger than the average concrete slab, and can handle much more weight before they crack. When it comes to durability, pavers are the way to go.
There are several different types of pavers. You can choose between natural stone, brick, concrete, rubber, and even ceramic pavers. Pavers come in hundreds of different colors and styles, and your final cost will depend on your personal preference. Most common types of pavers are flagstone, fieldstone, and limestone. Limestone pavers are very sturdy and often used for edging. Travertine pavers keep their natural color and rarely need to be cleaned. Although the cost of pavers can vary, they are a very durable investment that will last for years.
